The American Academy of Pediatrics has a new (June 2014) policy for doctors to recommend that parents read to their babies beginning at birth. This is the first time the Academy has issued recommendations on early literacy education.
The next time you take your baby to a doctor’s appointment, check to see if your physician talks about the importance of reading, singing, talking to your little one. If not, mention it. That will help the next family that’s not as savvy as you.
